From Airedale, he travels southwest. Rumors had been spreading around about this 'no-man's land', and being the type of man he was, Matthias was intrigued. He never traveled out of his birth kingdom before; he was secluded in doing his thievery tricks in one particular area. Matthias wasn't quite sure were he was going as well, and if he got lost, that didn't matter to him. After all, he had no formal place in Ponterion. No one would notice him gone like that - well maybe his returning customers, but that was all.
The rumors spoke of possible treasures lying about in abandoned villages. Someone might've already raided the villages, or not. Hey, you'll never know. Honestly, Matthias would be surprised if he came across a town, let alone treasure. Bow slung over his shoulder, he quickens his pace. The grounds seems as though to loose its vegetation, seeming to look more desolate. Noting the change, he lifts his eyes. There was a single, structural, large shape in the distance, telling him that there was a shelter just up ahead. Matthias supposes that he could rest for the night in there before continuing his journey.

[presto] [/presto] Corabelle
The girl fled after Corabelle had sentenced her to death. Corabelle decided it would be best if she went to either collect or kill her herself. A long fur cape sits on Corabelle's shoulder and she's on a pure-white horse. The hood on her cape is up as she watches the girl. It's dark, lightly snowing and very cold. Her horse gallops behind the girl. Corabelle could have shot her long ago, but why not learn where refugees live?
Watching the girl run to a building in the distance, Corabelle toys with her long enough to watch her open a long abandoned building. "This is absolutely useless," Corabelle said quietly. Drawing her arrow from her bow, she let the arrow fly, hitting the girl in the center of her chest. She fell to her knees and lay dying. Corabelle rode next to her and began to give her, her last rites.

The man continues making his way across the rugged terrain through narrowed eyes. In the distance, he sees a lady riding upon a magnificent horse. She wears an elegant cloak, and he assumes that she was some kind of rich being. He snorts. Rich people and their snobby, boastful personalities. The rogue didn't care whatever rank one holds. He treated them all the same. Though, her presence made him a bit confused. Curious if he could perhaps steal some gold from her, the man approaches, silently. One shouldn't wear such bright clothing in such a desolate area. It was her fault for being so flashy, he told himself. She stood out amongst the scenery, attracting much attention to the things around her. (If there was anything else besides him.) He narrows his eyes at her move; killing a small girl by shooting her in the chest with an arrow. From where he stood, he could tell she was excellent with her bow. Her accuracy impressed him to a certain degree, though killing a simple girl seemed to be a bit rude. Realizing that the lady seemed to be capable, he thought against his actions. A high ranking lady shouldn't have a reason to be here. Was this simply because of her own enjoyment? Whatever, he knew what she was capable of. He needed to leave this area as quickly as possible. She may register him as some brigand. Quirking a brow, he stood from where he was crouching, and moved swiftly to the other side of the tower, hoping that she didn't catch a glimpse of him. corabelle

[presto] [/presto] Corabelle Corabelle wasted no time giving the girl her last rites. "For your crime of stealing from the Temple of Solveig, you were to stand trial. You fled trial and were deemed a traitor of Solveig. You were sentenced to death by me, The High Priestess Corabelle Cleopatra Lumiere. My punishment was executed by myself. Your debts will be collected from any family members and is inherited through the temple." Corabelle stopped speaking for a moment. She didn't bother to step off of her horse. "For your crimes you will be punished in the next life as you were in this life. You've paid your debts of fleeing and shall not suffer debt from it in the life. For your debt you won't receive a proper burial. But, any children or persons you've been taking care of shall be offered sanctuary in the temple under the name of the High Priestess, Corabelle. So will it be." She finished it by slicing a hand through the air, much like someone would slice bread.
A moment of pure silence is what tipped Corabelle off. She directed her horse to turn around as her eyes scanned the area for any life. "I command you to step forward, who or what ever you are." Corabelle yelled. Her voice didn't sound authoritative, quite contrary, it was very shrill. She continued to glare to the distance. She didn't have any arrows handy, she kept them in the satchel of the saddle on her horse. Why carry more than one at a time when you never miss?
She reached into the satchel, pulling an arrow out. "I love a good hunt." Corabelle yelled. "I'll even give you a head start unless you come forward."

He manages to make it to the side of the abandoned building with his teeth gritting against one another. His body presses onto the stone walls. His heart begins to drum quicker against his chest. Matthias pauses quietly, waiting for her to make her move as he waited. Her voice pierces the tense atmosphere, commanding him to rise from his spot. She was the type who actually enjoyed killing others? Yes, he was paid as a killer, but he never really found the thrill of slaying another being. As he listens to her words, his sweaty hands automatically move to his side. He fingers the hilt of his dagger, and he pulls the blade out of its sheath. And he does what she says. He stands before her, brows knitted. "What is your business here, woman?" he says scathingly, his temper getting the hold of him. The fact that he didn't want to speak was clearly evident in his voice. He had business to take care of. The rogue had no time to be simply mingling with a woman. Matthias' gaze lowers and focuses on her bow and arrow. Perhaps what he said wasn't quite wise. corabelle

[presto] [/presto] Corabelle "A better question is, what is your business? Are you fleeing judgement?" Corabelle asked, her nose was turned to the air, her voice condescending and cocky. "I came to carry out a punishment against someone who fled my court. I followed her because I suspected she'd show me where other outlaws are hiding, did I suspect right?" Corabelle asked the man. She ran her tongue across her pearly white teeth. Her eye glistened, clearly she was enjoying herself. "Obviously, you must know who I am. Why don't you come back with me?" Releasing the arrow slowly so not to shoot it. She held it in her right hand and her bow in her left.
"Or, is it out here you'd prefer to live or die?" Corabelle had a golden ring on each of her fingers and several golden bangles that clicked together whenever she moved her hand. "Tell me why you're here and I'll decide what'll happen next."

Now that she mentioned it, the rogue thought she looked familiar. He probably had seen the woman at one point, most likely at some previous celebration for the gods or something. Matthias wasn't sure. All royals looked pretty much the same with their beautiful gowns and stuff. From the moment she called for him, he knew he had been caught. Her words were boastful, and arrogant, which caused him to be more annoyed. "Judgement?" he says, frowning slightly at the word. What in the world did the girl do to receive this kind of judgement? He knew that the only way out of this situation was to tell her the truth on why he was truly here. But if he did, he would most likely be killed right on the spot, or worse, held in some jail. He gritted his teeth. Between a rock and a hard place, eh? He paused - selecting his words carefully before speaking. "I'm here because I seek shelter within this building." The rogue craned his neck, and gestured the tower with his hands. It was better to keep things simple. It was true that he had no place in the city he was born in, and so he would rest in the tower. "And it appears that you are interrupting my business here."corabelle

[presto] [/presto] Corabelle Arching an eyebrow, Corabelle nodded. "I am able to execute judgement as I see fit. I was born into the position of authority I'm in."
She held out her hand and pointed to the darkness that was beginning to overtake the area. "I think that's a blizzard!" She gasped. "What will I do while it blows over?" Looking to the building, then the man and the building again. Corabelle scoffed. "I'll be joining you in that building, I suppose.. How long do these storms usually last?" Corabelle led her horse to the inside of the building. "Cream stays inside with me."
After hopping off her horse, Corabelle stood at 6' tall. She pulled the saddle from her horse and let it fall to the ground. She opened the satchel and took a few bottles and a quiver of arrows out. "Try anything and you'll have two arrows through your bleeding eyes." Corabelle said, glaring at him.

At her words, he turns around to look at the blizzard for himself. Right - there were several reasons why this place was commonly called the no man's land. He would've done his work here a bit quicker to avoid the storm if it weren't for her yammering. He sighs. "I'm not sure. This is actually my first time around here." His words were a bit gentler, but still cold all the same. Of course she was still suspicious of him, and he felt the same way. Matthias didn't know what kind of authority she had back in her home, but her power wouldn't have much effect in these lands. She was far from her home. Very far. "I won't try anything." There no was point in doing anything now. He snorts. The rogue approaches the entrance and turns around to glance at her once more. She was tall - too tall for a female human being. Even after leaping off her stead. A different race, he thought. Compared to him though, he was shorter by some inches. He pauses before entering the dark building, his fingers clutching onto his dagger. corabelle

[presto] [/presto] Corabelle
Corabelle slid her fur off her shoulders as it fell to the ground. Underneath she was wearing a white, woolen dress. It was a bit shorter than her dresses usually are, it didn't quite trail to the ground but showed her not wearing shoes and several golden bangles on each ankle and wrist. She reached into the satchel and pulled a small leather bag out of it. From the bag she grabbed a small hair comb. It was encrusted with diamonds and large pearls, she used it to pull her hair back and hold it. Her elvish ears stuck out, clearly visible.
"I heard some primitive tribes live around here... If we need to, do you suppose you could figure out which end to stick a troglodyte with?" Corabelle asked, arching an eyebrow at him. She wrinkled her nose and held it with her hand. "What the bloody Nora is that smell? Oh cream!" She shrieked and she smacked her horse for using the bathroom in the room. "Blasted horse." Corabelle rolled her eyes.
"Why are you fleeing your country? What knowledge do you know of these lands? If you tell me, it'd prove beneficiary to you." Corabelle said, her face was contorted into a frown.

Once he established that it was safe in the current room, he turns around to face her. Wonderful. More stuff to show off to him and his ragged clothing. The pointed ears gave him further information that she wasn't human, but rather an elf. It was interesting how the Ponterian commonfolk didn't have as many of other races, compared to the nobles. Perhaps the other races were more valued than humans. It was just a thought; a simple one. As she mentioned, he never saw these so-called primitive tribes before, but it seemed to be interesting to note.
A blasted odor came flowing through the tower, and he covers his nose with his hand. He casts a narrowed gaze over at her stead, but he couldn't help but to give an amused snort at her reaction. His expression of enjoyment falls of his face soon afterward. As she continues to speak, he frowns a little. "I'm not fleeing my country. I'm just visiting this place - you know to scout around and to explore a bit. And I've already told you that I don't know much about these lands."

[presto] [/presto] Corabelle Corabelle didn't take her eyes off the man. Her head was running a hundred miles a minute. It's obvious he doesn't have much money, why else would he be here?
"A scout? How smashing!" Corabelle said, feigning enthusiasm. Corabelle laid out on the ground, puled her fur cape around her and yawned. "I'm knackered! And it's obvious we're going to have to get along if we're going to get through this with you alive." She sounded very convincing that he would be the one to die, not her. Corabelle's stomach growled. She looked around then to the man.
"... What are we going to do about food?" She asked quietly. "I'm very erudite in herpetology. I know what plants we could eat... If any are still alive. I have some cream I brought in case I got hungry during the journey, but it'll hardly last. I'll go see what else is around here." Corabelle got up, walking around the rest of the building.
A few moments later, a loud crack and crash was heard. Large pieces of wood were being carried by Corabelle and she set them on the floor between them. "Hey, I found firewood. Do you know how to make a fire?"

To him at least, it didn't seem that she wasn't very interested in him, other then his skills. He thought that she was being sarcastic with her words, and it was very typical for him to think like that. But that didn't matter much to him, she actually did sounded a bit impressed nonetheless. Her further words might have ruined the light atmosphere. "What do you mean by 'getting through this with me alive?'" Wait, she was planning on getting him killed before this? It was your average royal, he supposed.
He didn't notice how hungry he was until she mentioned food. Yes, he actually did manage to indulge himself in food yesterday in some tavern... He'd thought that it would last him for some time before he had to make his way back to the cities. Herbs didn't seem to be appealing to him. Plants didn't seem be enough to fill him up.
The rogue was pulled from his thoughts abruptly when a he heard a crash on the upper levels. For a fleeting moment, he thought that she was in danger. He rises to his feet, and pauses to stare at the firewood she was carrying. "Well, I can try." He'd seen several people do it before, but he never did it for himself. Some scavenger he was. He crouches near a dry piece of wood, and hacks the wood in half with his knife and with a few grunts here and there. It took him a considerable amount of time to do this, and he would've thought that she'd grown impatient. The knife he was carrying wasn't the type of cut wood, mind you.
After it was cut, he selected a few twigs for kindling. Finally, taking a previous cut wood, he scrapes the blade against the dry wood repetitively until some sparks landed onto the kindling. The sparks begins to grow into a flame. He would start to feed it with more wood, careful not to suffocate it.
If they were going have to get along, he guessed he should introduce himself. "The name's Matthias. Matthias Varro. You?"

[presto] [/presto] Corabelle "Corabelle... Corabelle Lumiere. I'm the High Priestess of the temple of Solveig... You may call me Cora." She said quietly. She stared at the wood burning and cracking. "I know I seem a bit... Draconian and for that, I apologize, it's my defensive mechanism, to intimidate people."
Corabelle looked up at Matthius. "It is a pleasure to meet you." She smiled, genuinely. She has thin lips, her eyes are a deep blue, almost violet in color. Her lips are pale, no hints of malocclusion on her teeth. "Hey... You look haggard. Use this to buy some food when we get out." Cora said as she pulled a golden bangle off her wrist, it was encrusted with sapphires. A gift from a potential suitor she didn't reciprocate.
"I can go hunt for any fowl. I can shoot a bird from the air no problem." Corabelle said as she lifted her bow from the ground and quiver of arrows. "If there are any. I'll go see what I can dig up." As she finished her sentence, she'd done an impressive leap from the ground where she was sitting. She almost looked as if she was floating, but was carefully set down to her feet.
On the next level of the building, there was a window Corabelle was using to scout the area around her. She slithered through the window after prying it open. Pushing against the building, she gracefully landed against the ground several meters away. She shot a wold with ease, hitting him directly in his chest. She shot a bird from the sky. Her feet began to get cold in the snow from her lack of shoes, using her telekinesis, the animals were being pulled behind her and her body was being, mostly, held from her power so she could take large steps and cover larger areas than by walking alone. At the door of the building, she knocked quietly.

Her words were more gentle than before. They were no longer sealed with the harshness she usually delivered to him. She left the building to go hunting for fowl. He carefully watches how she handles her bow, her elegant fingers clinging onto the string. As soon as she left, he glances briefly the ragged furniture, examining it. Blinking, he fingers the golden bangle, rotating it as he admired the jewelry. Though he was no appraiser, he could tell that it was worth plenty of gold. He supposed he could keep it; a gift from a noble to a thief was unlike any other. He took and the bangle and placed it in his pouch. She probably didn't know that he was an outlaw. And he hoped she would never find out. He didn't know what her feelings were towards scoundrels, but he assumed that she didn't like them.
He sat in silence, feeling calm as the fire began to warm up the room. He perks up a little at the sudden knocking on the door. Pausing, he rises to his feet and opens the door. He cocks a brow, saying, "What do you have there?"
