Meandering and PilferingBraxton Caldwell | ♂ | Human | Ihoris; Ponterion It was a beautiful day in Ihoris today - incredibly warm, but beautiful nonetheless - and Braxton viewed it as no better time to take a stroll through the busy streets of the capital. The unrelenting sun shone down over the paved streets of the marketplace, however the fabrics draped over the hundreds of various stalls did shield people who walked beneath them from its rays.
The marketplace was always crowded on pleasant afternoons such as these, and sunshine usually drew out the higher classed citizens too, which was exactly what this thief and many others of his occupation wanted.
The blonde male, who was quite tall and stood at around six feet, raked his gaze over each passerby within his line of sight as he strolled. If their attire caused them to appear as though they were a good catch, he would tail after them and hope for a chance to nick something good. It was usually easiest to do this when a person was distracted and viewing a stall's merchandise.
However, today nobody was catching Braxton's eye. It was usually a fast process that began immediately, but at that moment no one looked like they were carrying anything particularly wonderful. Stealing bare cash was beginning to become a bore - the blonde wanted something better.

Something better..well Beau didn't have that. The man walked through the streets in a bore, eyebrows slightly narrowed to reflect this and a sigh left him. It seemed coming here was a bad idea though there was nothing else he could do. He just allowed his feet to carry him here, perhaps he should've turned the other way when he came to that fork in the road who knows how far back? Oh well too late now, he could just walk through his place like he normally did when he didn't see anything of too great of interesting. For now he might as well give it a try since he just got here.
Blue eyes glanced about as he walked through the streets, unfortunately nothing was catching his attention either and he gave a frustrated sigh. It had been a while since he got any money in some way, be it coins or a item he could sell. He had money still at least and that was a good thing, though if he stayed here he had a feeling that he'd have to use all of it either on food or just trying to get a room. Pulling out the few coins he had, he glanced down at them for a moment before putting the away. Yep, it was either food or the attempt to get lodgings.
Well obviously getting a room would be a bad idea considering....the obvious thing. Beau pondered in his head.
It seemed it was going to be food so he could just wander away from this place. Course..he had to find the market place.

Just then, a lady dressed in the usual high fashion - ruffled skirts, laces and the like - caught Braxton's eye. Or, her purse did, in all actuality. Anyone who could afford an outfit such as that, which was obviously tailored, would certainly have quite a bit of coin to spare. Brushing a few locks of blonde hair from his eyes, the thief began to tail his latest victim.
He was planning it within his mind already. He would follow her from a few paces behind until she stalled to admire a vendor's merchandise, and then Braxton would strike. ... Perhaps strike wasn't the correct word, for the work of a pickpocket was usually quite a graceful movement. If they were any good, that is. One needed to be silence and quick to slip a hand into a coin purse or even snatch the entire thing.
That was exactly what he did, since this lady's coin purse was on the smaller size. She had halted to view a display of exotic looking jewellery when Braxton swiftly removed the purse from where it had been nestled between her elbow and hip. The woman noticed the missing pouch too late, for the longer-haired male had already slipped away into the bustling crowd.
Tossing his new-found but minuscule enough wealth, from hand to hand, Braxton considered his options. He was in the mood for something sweet, and the idea of consuming an orange was looking pretty good. That was how he found himself mooching through a fruit and vegetable vendor's stall.

Beau rubbed his eyes as they started to hurt slightly from the light being reflected off of some objects somewhere nearby. Gosh dang it! It would be nice if his eyes would turn off for the day hours, then he wouldn't nearly blind himself all the time. That was a hard thing to adjust to and in a way, he still hadn't managed to do that fully. Glancing around he soon gave a small smile as he noticed someone else. Someone was in a good mood, a man with blonde hair tossing a purse that 'obviously' didn't belong to him; after all, what man carried that kind of purse around? Keeping to the more cluttered areas of the crowd, Beau slinked along. Taking care not to bump into anyone that could possibly alert the blonde man of the incoming black dressed stranger.
Removing a black glove from his right hand, he stuffed into his pocket, and closed in. Taking careful but fast steps that fell lightly on the ground. Sure he wasn't going too fast since being sly and sneaky was part of being a thief; even though he was more skilled with picking locks, he had been taught to pick pocket. When the purse was tossed in the air once more, he attempted to snatch it and take off back into the crowd.

The darkly clad stranger would have had the purse too, if Braxton hadn't managed to grasp it by the strings and close it within his fist again. "Hey!" cried the blonde in surprise. Having been focused on choosing the most delectable orange, he had not been expecting anyone to try and steal the coin that he himself just stole moments before.
Blue-hued eyes focused upon the other thief and narrowed as the longer-haired male studied him with scrutiny. "As a tip for next time, it's easier to steal from the pockets rather than straight from the hands. I would have gotten a good look at you if you had taken that, and probably broken your nose too," he remarked in a smug tone of voice.
Braxton did not appreciate when people attempted to take things from him whatsoever, but offering a pointer or two to his fellow pickpockets certainly did no harm. After all, allies on the street were quite useful. However this fellow did not look local. His complexion was far too pale and his hair too dark for him to have lived within this particular city for any length of time. Unless he was a vampire, or some other odd creature. Braxton hoped not.

Crap. Beau thought when his hand didn't feel the texture of the cloth nor the coins hidden within it in his hand.
When the guy turned round, Beau honestly expected something to happen. A chase or a fight but nope. This stranger gave....a tip? That caused the werewolf to give a raised brow and he folded his arms at their smug comment on breaking his nose.
"Sure." Beau said, not too believing of the guy's last comment considering what he was stuck as. "Well when there's no one of interest walking around to pickpocket from, what else are you suppose to go after? Something with coins in it."
Or you can just go and pick the lock on some doors an get to the riches inside of a house but...too much of a hassle at the moment for the guy.

"Or, you could perform an honest day's work," countered the blonde; another smart yet hypocritical comments as he turned back towards the fruit stand to weigh his options. With his free hand, he grabbed hold of a large enough orange and turned it this way and that, before choosing to take it. Not without flicking a coin to the vendor first, however, to emphasize the noble-hearted visage he was attempting to put on.
With the coin purse nestled between his armpit and upper arm, Braxton started on peeling the thick skin from the orange fruit. "Where do you come from? You don't look like someone that's been living here in Ponterion for too long," remarked the longer-haired male. Perhaps his initiation of casual conversation with someone who had just tried to rob him was a bit odd, but Braxton was the inquisitive creature.

"Look who's talking." Beau countered. "That bag ain't yours to begin with, it belongs to some lady. No guy carries around a purse like that. It screams Lady of high class and you aren't a lady let alone someone of high class." This guy didn't look like he was some noble and with that purse, it didn't go together in the werewolf's mind. A smile was still on Beau's face as he folded his arms, two can play at this game. He'd encountered other thieves before and while they didn't take kindly to him being about, he could still play the war of words. Besides, it was fun to make them doubt that their own facades were failing. Amusing really, though torturing the guards was always the grandest of times. "I don't really come from any one place, always been wandering around the Kingdoms." Beau answered. "You look like you'd fit in here though." Ruin

"Maybe this purse belongs to a lady friend of mine," suggested the blonde. He was unrelenting, and not willing to give in to his own game so easily. With a cheesy grin, he flicked the orange peel aside and began to tear it into separate segments, before popping one into his mouth. "You shouldn't make judgements so quickly, thief."
Then, Braxton absorbed this sliver of information about his newest acquaintance. "You guessed correctly - I am from around here. I travel quite a bit too, however."
